〔事 例〕
Ｂさん（50歳、男性、障害支援区分3）は、49歳のときに脳梗塞（cerebral infarction）を発症し、左片麻痺で高次脳機能障害（higher brain dysfunction）と診断された。以前は大工で、手先が器用だったと言っている。
現在は就労継続支援Ｂ型事業所に通っている。短期目標を、「右手を使い、作業を自分ひとりで行える（3か月）」と設定し、製品を箱に入れる単純作業を任されていた。ほかの利用者との人間関係も良好で、左片麻痺に合わせた作業台で、毎日の作業目標を達成していた。生活支援員には、「将来は手先を使う仕事に就きたい」と希望を話していた。
将来に向けて、生活支援員が新たに製品の組立て作業を提案すると、Ｂさんも喜んで受け入れた。初日に、「ひとりで頑張る」と始めたが、途中で何度も手が止まり、完成品に不備が見られた。生活支援員が声をかけると、「こんなの、できない」と大声を出した。
